Visualising Togetherness — Plovdiv 2019
As the creative force behind Plovdiv's transformation into the European Capital of Culture 2019, our studio delivered a comprehensive visual identity that married Bulgaria's rich heritage with contemporary design insights. The project encompassed a dynamic set of deliverables, from a versatile logo and bespoke iconography to expansive space branding, all unified by the ECoC’s 2019 slogan "Plovdiv Together".

Drawing inspiration from the city's architectural marvels and cultural tapestry, we crafted a visual language anchored by the Bulgarian-designed Uni Neue typeface and complemented by hand-drawn pictograms, whilst our vibrant colour strategy breathed life into everything from printed catalogues to animated social content and space branding. The result? A cohesive brand ecosystem that celebrated Plovdiv's cultural renaissance whilst setting new benchmarks in city branding.
The project's success hinged on our ability to balance corporate professionalism with creative playfulness, achieved through the juxtaposition of typography and hand-drawn elements. This duality ensured the brand resonated with both official stakeholders and the local community, creating a truly inclusive cultural celebration.
Our collaboration with Studio PUNKT to create a visual identity for the Plovdiv European Capital of Culture 2019 was a process of mutual enrichment. The designers and artists from Studio PUNKT, committed to our cause, did their best in the short time available to give a worthy face to the program's events and a recognizable vision of the materials accompanying each of our initiatives. Their enthusiasm and creativity in tackling the new challenge of urban branding infused the project with the emotional charge it needed in its most active phase.
