We crafted the visual identity for OPERA OPEN 2024, a flagship festival of the State Opera Plovdiv. The identity captures the event’s dynamic international presence, which blends genre diversity and the dramatic backdrop of Plovdiv’s Ancient Theatre.

Opera Open requires a visual language as grand and versatile as the performances it showcases. Showcasing world-class soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet in the dramatic setting of the Ancient Theatre, the festival continues to attract growing international audiences and foster global opera tourism. Our goal was to honour this rich tradition while infusing it with a contemporary flair.
Our approach began with the logo design, where the spotlight falls on the letterforms of O in “Opera” and E in “opEn,” symbolising openness and elegance. The typography, featuring the Muller Next Variable by FontFabric, adds a smooth, modern touch while handling the readability quite well across various formats. Moving on to the colour scheme, a sophisticated dark blue anchors the palette, balanced by accents of purple, coral, and pale mint, and strategically applied bursts of yellow and orange to echo the festival’s energetic spirit.
Although the project’s deliverables include a wide range of print & digital materials, each piece radiates the intriguing duality of tradition and innovation, hence, capturing the essence of the Plovdiv Opera’s diverse programme. The posters, in particular, harmonise vibrant visuals with structured layouts, creating a professional yet unique aesthetic.
